The Engaging Creative Minds (ECM) team is deeply saddened by the systemic racism that plagues our nation. The horrific treatment and senseless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and too many others in the Black Community are indicative of a problem that must be faced head on.
Engaging Creative Minds stands in solidarity with Black Americans and is committed to listening to their voices and learning from their experiences as we work toward taking meaningful action. Change does not happen overnight and we have a lot of work to do, but ECM will be a vigilant partner in the process ahead.
Equal access and opportunity to the best education through the Arts are at the core of our vision. Now more than ever it is important to provide opportunities for kids to learn about different cultures and collaborate with children from other backgrounds through meaningful, engaging and innovative experiences.
Engaging Creative Minds believes the Arts and Arts Integration will help us create a more equitable educational system and we are committed to continuing and strengthening the following to help reach these goals:
- Expanding ECM programming to more Black Communities
- 100% staff participation in the Racial Equity Institute
- Supporting educators, artists and cultural organizations that serve diverse populations
- Recruiting Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) to serve on our staff, artist roster, board and advisory council
In addition to these goals, we will continue to provide rich Arts experiences that bring people together and strengthen our community. The Arts have always served as a medium for change, telling powerful stories and conveying emotion that others may not have experienced.
We are ready to get to work.
Black Lives Matter.
