A creative writing program that focuses on South Carolina history through presentation, primary source documents and voice recording from memories of slavery.

Sample ELE: Students will explore primary source documents that advertise the sale of families and children at the Charleston Old Slave Mart to prepare to create an original written narrative, either from the perspective of an onlooker at the sale or of an enslaved child.  They will also visit McLeod Plantation on James Island, to follow up on the story of Leah, a young girl sold at the slave mart to the McLeods.
